The Macaulayite Quarry is the sole known source of macaulayite—a rare red mineral with implications for Mars research by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). Our dedicated volunteers visited the site to restore access, ensuring the quarry remains open to the public.
This geological wonder is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and enriches our community’s heritage and provides scientific insights.
