New Volunteer Hill Wardens Start Work on Bennachie

March 2020

Among the things the wardens will be reporting on are blocked drains, water on paths, windblown trees, and overgrown vegetation. The identified work will be tackled by the Bailies of Bennachie work parties or passed on to Forestry and Land Scotland or other local landowners.

The outreach officer of the Bailies of Bennachie, Fiona Cormack commented:

“There was a great response to our call for volunteers to be hill wardens. We are very grateful to the people who came forward to do this important role with the Bailies of Bennachie. It will let us have a really good idea of what is happening on the hill and will enable the monthly work parties to go where they are most needed. The wardens all love walking on the hill and support the Bailie’s aims to protect this unique landscape for future generations.”
