Kemnay

The students from Kemnay presented their work to a number of staff from the academy at the Bennachie Centre. This was extremely well-received and comprised the showing of a short film made about historic characters from around Bennachie and an exhibition relating their highly successful excavation at the Back o' Bennachie. There is a will amongst the teachers to continue next year though this may not be possible owing to financial constraints. Funding was provided this year by the school itself as central funds were not forthcoming. It is disappointing to note that, although staff and pupils benefit greatly from this type of practical learning, lack of resources constrain education to a narrow mode of teaching that limits life chances to a restricted percentage of the population.
