Continuing Professional Development for Teachers

The work with Keig and Oyne schools was used to demonstrate to the wider community of schools within the area how the landscape could be used to complement and enhance curriculum teaching. A multi-disciplinary approach forms the basis of all archaeological work and landscape study in particular creates a practical environment within which virtually every curriculum subject can be demonstrated. This approach of ‘landscape learning’ was further demonstrated by Fiona Banks of the Ranger Service with respect to making use of the Hill itself as an environment for creative learning. Teachers and pupils from Oyne and Keig kindly came to the middle of the three twilight sessions to relate their experience of ‘landscape learning’.
