Climate Change Trail

July 2021

Work In Progress – we hope to be complete by mid/end of July 2021.

The Bailies, with other interested individuals and groups (all volunteers), are developing in the woodland close to the Bennachie Visitor Centre, a trail which hopes to show the link between nature and climate, we hope to launch it in July 2021 and it will stay in place until COP26 in November.

The trail takes you around an area of woodland needed to capture the carbon footprint of one average UK citizen each year. The habitats and soils on Bennachie help us with climate change by capturing carbon dioxide and storing carbon. The trail also shows how much woodland is needed to capture the carbon emissions from items in everyday life - so look out for the installations in the wood!

The trail is a contribution to COP26, the global conference about climate change in Glasgow in November 2021.

TELL US WHAT YOU THINK – you can tell us what you think about the trail and suggest how we can improve it by sending an e-mail to climatechange.bennachie@btinternet.com.

COVID PANDEMIC - Please don’t touch the installations because of COVID. We’d love the trail to be more inter-active, but that is not possible in a pandemic.
