Founders Day - 7th May 2024
May 2024
Happy Founders Day! Our members and followers will recall that we celebrated our 50th anniversary last year. Our charity was established at a meeting in Inverurie Town Hall on May 7th, 1973. You can see the first page of at inaugural meeting in this post. Our founders, Dr Danny Gordon, James MacKay and Algy Watson (shown with Maitland Mackie (2nd from left)) were visionary in recognising the need for some guardianship for the hill. We recommend you read Dr Gordon's article in The Book of Bennachie to get a feel of our formation. We all owe so much to our founders for their forward thinking towards what the Bailies would bring to the benefit of Bennachie
We take great pleasure in recognising our 51st Founder's Day this May 7th. Our life and times are very different from 1973 and we have adapted to the needs and challenges over the decades. Our newly adopted motto, A Voice for the Hill, is capturing people’s imaginations on how to give a voice to the hill, its flora and fauna, its visitors, its history and its future.
We welcome your involvement by either becoming a member, becoming a volunteer or becoming a trustee.
If you see any of the current Trustees on the hill, please stop for a chat.
