Archives Exhibition at the Bennachie Centre

August 2012

A unique insight into centuries past in North-East Scotland is now on view at the Bennachie Centre. Based on documents spanning the 16th-18th centuries, “Discovering the Archives” is a joint project between the Bennachie Landscapes Project and the University of Aberdeen. The exhibition provides an insight into land titles, charters and church teinds (tithes) in Formartine, Garioch and the Mearns. If you are interested in the farms and teinds of the Parish of Logie Durno, the families and lands of the Urquharts of Meldrum, and the Dunbars of Frendraught, or if you just like looking at old maps, this is an opportunity not to be missed. The exhibition is in the Bailies Room until further notice, except when the room is in use for meetings, and it is hoped that there will be a further opportunity to view in Oldmeldrum in September.
