Bailies of Bennachie Doric Evening 2012

May 2012

Despite a rainy night the Bailies of Bennachie annual Doric evening at Chapel of Garioch hall near Inverurie had a full house.

With master of ceremonies George Smith setting the mood with his lively repartee the evening continued with an entertaining mix of music, poems and airs.

There were toe-tapping, singalong medleys of Scottish favourites from Garioch Fiddlers and performances from singers Moira Stewart from Turriff, father and son Allan and Eoin Taylor from Alford and the Inverurie Doric anecdotal Jake Simpson. Delicious home bakes, tea and coffee provided refreshments.

Senior Bailie Jackie Cumberbirch was well pleased with the evening. She said “I think the Bailies have established a successful format which provides something for all ages.”
