The Bailies of Bennachie annual Doric Night at the Chapel of Garioch Hall on Friday 13 May 2011 was off to a rousing start with a medley of Scottish airs from the Garioch Fiddlers, they also played a selection from their new CD, Heart of the Garioch.
During the interval there were more delights in the form of home-baked pancakes, scones and cookies to accompany the tea and coffee.
The evening continued with songs from Turriff artiste Moira Stewart, father and son singers Alan and Eoin Taylor, a story from Doric raconteur Jackie Ross and witty recitations from Jake Simpson all co-ordinated by Master of Ceremonies George Smith with some of his pithy anecdotes thrown in to keep the light-hearted tone for this evergreen event.
The Bailies next annual event is the Picnic at Back o’Bennachie date to be confirmed.
