We Won! - 2023 NatureScot Community Initiative Award The 12th annual Nature of Scotland Awards were held on 22nd Nov at the EICC in Edinburgh and the Bailies of Bennachie won the Community Initiative Award.

Would You Like To Try Archaeology? The Bailies of Bennachie are carrying out an archaeological dig this summer on the slopes of Bennachie. They are excavating mysterious landscape features near the Pittodrie House Hotel. It is the fourth time the group have delved into this rich area which has yielded finds from prehistorical and medieval times, including an unusual engraving that may date from the Neolithic.

Bennachie Spirits Soar With Sales of Limited Edition Gin As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of conservation charity the Bailies of Bennachie a one-off batch of gin has been distilled by local company Little Brown Dog. Members of the Bailies did a taste test to produce a unique recipe using botanicals from the hill.

Bailies Celebrate 50 Years of Work on Bennachie Hundreds of people gathered in Inverurie Town Hall on Saturday afternoon to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the conservation charity the Bailies of Bennachie. Some had been involved with the charity since the start; others were new to the Bailies and came to find out what they do.

Rowantree Loos Re-Open The toilet block at the Rowantree car park has re-opened this week after being shut since Storm Arwen, 18 months ago. A joint effort by conservation charity the Bailies of Bennachie and Aberdeenshire Council has managed to make the facilities work again. A large tree root was a major hazard and the water supply to the block had been interrupted. The toilets also needed a thorough clean.

Anniversary Play Celebrates Bennachie History A new play ‘The hill that was a home’ will have its debut in Inverurie this summer. It tells the story of the Bennachie Colonists – the 19th Century landless who carved out a living on the slopes of the hill before being forced out when land owners took over their properties. The play is an original piece of work by acclaimed playwright Alan Bissett.
