Rowantree Loos Re-Open

May 2023

The toilet block at the Rowantree car park has re-opened this week after being shut since Storm Arwen, 18 months ago.

A joint effort by conservation charity the Bailies of Bennachie and Aberdeenshire Council has managed to make the facilities work again. A large tree root was a major hazard and the water supply to the block had been interrupted. The toilets also needed a thorough clean.

Bailies Charity Trustee, Ann Baillie said:

“The Bailies of Bennachie are the voice of the hill – one of our important roles is to help visitors coming to the range. Having somewhere suitable for people to ‘go’ when they come to Bennachie keeps the hillside clean and sanitary both for hill users and the resident wildlife. I am delighted that Aberdeenshire Council have helped this facility to re-open after so long.”

The toilets are owned by the Council but they are kept open by the Bailies arranging regular cleaning. They will be available all summer – closing in October.
