Trees Cut Round Bede House Site

July 2019

The views of the remains of the Bede House which was uncovered by the Bennachie Landscapes Fieldwork group last summer. Bede houses were created to provide refuge for the old and infirm of a parish and were patronised by local lairds, in this case, by the Eriskines. The estate is now owned by Macdonald Hotels who have recently been felling an area of Bennachie that includes the site of the Bede House. Trees around the site were cut by hand to help protect the ruins. These photos show how different the site looks with the trees down.
