The Bennachie Diaspora

This project will seek to achieve a number of aims. Firstly, it is hoped to digitise the larger number of pictures and hand-written documents held within the Bailies Archive. These will be itemised and the resultant catalogue uploaded onto the Bailies website. Certain items will, hopefully, also be uploaded. As well as enabling easier access to the records, it is hoped that the project will encourage further interaction with people overseas who may be descended from the area of Bennachie and the Garioch. This will be a two-way process in which, it is hoped, members of the diaspora will be able to share family memories from the past with the present population of the area. At the same time the local archives and the findings of ‘Bennachie Landscapes’ will be made available to that wider population.
