In the Bailies book “The Book of Bennachie” published in 1976 an article that James wrote for that mentions the following that were or have been present on Bennachie up to that date:-

Rabbit, hare, roe deer, the occasional red deer, fox, stoat, weasel, pheasant, red squirrel, badger, wild cat (one shot in the English quarry around 1966 and one accidentally caught in a hare snare in 1973), shrew, mouse, vole.

Wood pigeon, woodcock, various thrushes and blackbird, four species of tits, golden-crested wren, cuckoo, warblers, sparrowhawk, great spotted woodpecker, tree creeper, finches, buntings, magpie and other members of the crow family including the jay, grouse, blackcock, occasional ptarmigan, meadow pipit, snipe, curlew, golden plover, hen harrier, kestrel, shorteared owl, buzzard and capercaillie.

Lizard, slowworm and rarely adder.
