Landscapes Forum > Archaeological work on the Colony

On the 19 and 20 April shovel test pitting took place on the colony at Burnside. A grid was laid out and around 30 pits were dug and sieved. Many of the pits revealed pot sherds and glass and the edges of two boundary walls were identified, as was an unknown feature. The garden was the most abundant area for finds which included a red glass bead that may be from a brooch or necklace. Further work is planned on this and other sites in the colony. See the events link for further details.
